These are wonderful realizations of Respighi's great tone poems. Sir Malcolm has a superb grasp of the musical heart of these pieces and the London Symphony Orchestra responds beautifully. For my ears this recording stands right at the top of the list with other outstanding recordings by Fritz Reiner, Eugene Ormandy, Arturo Toscanini and others. The recorded sound is open, full, detailed and allows one to really hear the performances. Highly recommended.
